Welcome to Bristol Baby!

M4theM has had an ongoing relationship with Bristol Motor Speedway since 2015.  Rob cut his teeth designing courses and administering AutoX in the infield of the track from 2015 to 2017.  We have been trying to set up an event together since 2019 but the calendar never quite worked out for both of us.  Now it finally has.

Welcome to BristolFest, a weekend-long celebration of automobile fun and excitement.  We will be holding our first-ever Bristol SCDE on August 28th and as a bonus, we will be offering charity laps around the oval immediately following the SCDE.  All proceeds from the oval Charity Laps as well as a percentage of the revenue from the SCDE will go to "Speedway Children's Charity".Another bonus is on Friday the 27th and Sunday 29th, we will lead spirited mountain drives for those that wish to come early or stay around an extra day.

Bristol SCDE

We will be finalizing the course design over the next couple of weeks but the basic design should not change much from the planned design as seen in the event advertisement and that course design is nearly 1 MILE LONG!  It should be one of our best courses as Bristol has some camber and elevation we can use to make the track a fun challenge.  It will be the full 40-minute program in the morning and 40 minutes in the afternoon.  All-day passes are an option but as a brand new venue to us, we have no idea how tire wear will be so double up at your own risk.  Since it is a fundraiser, the proceeds above operating expenses go to Speedway Children's Charity.

Charity Laps

These aren't your ordinary charity laps.  Follow the Bristol pace car drivers around the 1/2 mile high banked oval for 5-minute sessions where they will go as fast as you can keep up.  If the drivers behave and stay in a tidy pack, they'll go as fast as they can.  Mess around and lay back to go faster than they are leading, they'll slow to match your speed.  We will arrange cars by type and driver experience/preference.  Fast folks get to go fast, cruisers get to cruise and no one ends up disappointed or uncomfortable. Running these charity laps with Bristol is one of the things that got M4theM started and we have never had a participant complain about the rolling chicanes you sometimes get at other places.  Again, all charity lap proceeds go to Speedway Children's Charity.

Mountain Drives

M4theM first started with mountain drive events and there is no way we can be so close to such fantastic roads and not play at least a little.  We want to invite everyone that might want, to come out and play.  No charge for the drives.  Drivers that know the routes will act as "rolling road maps" to help make sure no one gets lost.  Friday will be a day cruise 90 miles out to Burkes Garden for lunch and a loop around the valley.  Several stops will be made along the way for breaks and photo ops. You will return to the speedway on a twisty trek back via Whitetop-US58-TN133-421 where you will get to see the final layout of the course, walk it a few times, and maybe even get a ride-along as the course builders are finishing up.  Sunday, we'll drive the 35 minutes over to "The Snake" and folks can spend as much or as little time there as they would like traversing back and forth over the 32 mile stretch of twisties that rank right up there with The Tail and Back of the Dragon as sports car roads.  The "rolling road map" cars pace will be "legal but spirited".  Corner speeds will usually be swifter than the yellow signs suggest, but there is no point in going faster than highway speeds on straights.  We will lead groups as such.

So you are new to SCDE

One of our core values in starting M4theM was to create a learning platform that assured fully trained, truly prepared, excellent track-day participants that can hit the ground running at our future track days.  Bristol joins Little Rock and the Summit Washington circuit as a final bridge between lower-speed venue SCDEs and our full-course Track Days.

You will learn all the procedures and rules of a Track Day at this event but do so on a racecourse that is one safe step larger and faster than an autocross course.  You will encounter longer than AutoX straights and true braking zones where almost all cars will be exceeding maximum interstate speeds once or twice a lap.  Unlike our smaller venues, the course at Bristol requires shifting and offers multiple point-by locations.  At an AutoX, you read cones, at an advanced SCDE you follow an actual mini road course layout and run multiple laps at a time, sharing the track with others as you learn excellent on-track and situational awareness habits as well as how to properly and safely execute point-by passing.

Participating in this event alone COULD even qualify you to drive solo in our upcoming M4theM full course track days such as our September event scheduled on the Summit Point Jefferson Course and our Rockingham 1.5 mile full roval event Oct 2.  Your qualification will be dependent upon your performance and our instructor evaluation during this SCDE.  Nonetheless, you will be ready to start ahead of all other true track day novices and be well on your way to solo certification for full racecourses.

Another plus to M4theM SCDE is NO WORKING!  Just like at a track day, we supply trained marshals at all positions, just arrive and drive.

Finally, we capture your lap times.  The only way you can judge your progress towards consistent solid laps and driving skills is through the clock.  While SCDE is not a competition format, we do allow participants access to their times to judge skill progression.  Lap times can be found on our Webscorer server as found on our website and update throughout the day. (when internet/cell service is adequate).

Our SCDE events are broken up into 2 sessions; Morning from 7 AM to 12 PM and the Afternoon from 12 PM to 5 PM.

Each participant will drive in 4 individual 10 to 15 minute long continuous lapping sessions. (depending on the course)  No point to point like AutoX, just keep making laps.

Registration and Tech will be open at 7 AM and again at 12 pm for the afternoon session.  The driver's meeting will be at 7:45 and 12:45 respectively.

Either session will provide you with up to 40 minutes of run time. *

The all-day pass avails you of up to 1 hour and 20 minutes of run time. *

The regular entry fees for this track are $120 for a Morning or Evening session and $220 for both sessions. Early Bird Pricing is $110 for a half-day AM or PM session.  Early Bird will end Sunday, May 23 so act now to save $10.

This is an advanced course with higher speeds and shifting. It has runoff and but restricts space more than other tracks.  We'll provide you with an in-car or lead follow procedure instructor until you are ready to go it alone.

What are you waiting for?

* Track time may be affected by event schedule, mechanical issues on track, or weather.  Track time is not guaranteed but we will do all we can to make sure everybody gets the amount they pay for.
